Journey Fosters Niagara provides temporary care for found and secured cats and dogs that have gone missing from their homes, but the finder is unable to hold onto them for various reasons.
We have trained volunteers who will come to you and scan the lost pet for a microchip. If the animal is microchipped, we contact the pet's family to reunite them. If the finder cannot care for the pet, we have foster homes that will care for it until the family comes to claim them or the SPCA comes to pick them up. We will also post a picture and description of the lost pet on our Facebook page in hopes of finding the family.
We can provide microchip scanning and Facebook posts for both cats and dogs.
We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
It can happen so quickly. It's a devastating time for families, and not knowing can be the most difficult. By sharing what we do with more people, we have the potential to improve the chances of reuniting more families with their cherished lost pets.
As a nonprofit, we would not be able to operate without the generosity of our community of fellow animal lovers.
We are looking for people to join us to provide a safe space for the found pets that have been on an unscheduled journey.
We are 100% volunteer-based and rely on our volunteers to help with fundraising events and run the program.
